Vocaloid is singing voice synthesis software developed by Yamaha. Since its release, Vocaloid has not only had a major effect on the state of Japanese and global pop culture (musical culture), but also holds within it the possibility of creating a revolution in these fields. While much research has been conducted focusing on the informational and technological aspects of Vocaloid to this point, relatively little research has been done on its socio-cultural aspects, nor have there been many opportunities to share such research in a formal setting. For that reason, we would like to create the "Conference for Vocaloid Studies" which will gather young researchers with an interest in Vocaloid-related topics (primarily in the humanities and social sciences) and provide a space to present and share research focusing on the socio-cultural aspects of Vocaloid to a wide audience.
